Crochet Baby Elephant

These delightful little elephants are handcrafted in Kenya by Mimi Africana, a dedicated collective of skilled women based primarily in the Thogoto–Kikuyu area, with additional members from nearby communities.

Ruth Kabochi is the founder of Mimi Africana – a social enterprise dedicated to bridging the gap between talent and opportunity. She explains: "We empower female artisans by connecting their craftsmanship with local and international markets through a fair-trade model.

At the heart of our mission are the 'Rehoboth' women, a collective of thirteen artisans – and growing – who specialise in high-quality crocheting and knitting, beading, weaving, and tailoring. Our name means 'a place to prosper', and we live that promise daily. By providing a sanctuary for skill-sharing and community, we transform traditional crafts into sustainable livelihoods and holistic growth for every woman involved."
